The steadfast rhythm begins before the dawning and is so much a part of everyday life that it virtually goes unnoticed; but, is such an integral and essential part of life and commerce here that we would be lost without the reassuring beat. For it is the horses hooves we hear — clip, clop, clip, clop — bringing wares from the port, workers to their jobs, mail from the world and visitors and politicians alike to “Old Town” and — the horses and carriages are here today in Alexandria for you and me to enjoy.
